There are plenty of authors who do that. Stephen King does it with The Shining and that gets brought up once a week.Moore just really wants his comics to stay comics, he wrote things specifically for the medium.
While I think an adaptation can bring something new to the story while simplifying it Moore feels otherwise. I think that his lack of involvement might have robbed us of some interesting film choices but overall it's just a difference of opinion in using multiple mediums to tell a story. It's far, far from being understood.As with all things science you can't take one or two studies as gospel, this won't be really understood till we have a bunch of conclusive meta studies and we understand the mechanisms.That one study does seems to suggest a decent understanding of a link between bipolar and intelligence, it's absolutely worth looking into, but as we still don't really understand bipolar or intelligence itself well enough I would be a little hesitant to shout out a big link between them myself.
